Exciting Friday. . .boring weekend

Friday after work, I scurried over to BART and rode to 19th Street in Oakland and made my way to Vo Restaurant to meet some friends for dinner. After dinner we went to the Paramount Theater for their monthly Classic Movie night. We saw Singing in the Rain. I have never seen the movie from beginning to end - only in bits and pieces. GREAT movie! I loved the gay overtones. Oh, and it's only $5.00!!! What a deal.

The Paramount a fabulous theater - if you like Art Deco, you will love this theater. Classic movie night starts by getting an old movie ticket (from a roll - just like the old days) for the raffle. We decided to sit in the upper balcony. When you walk into the auditorium, you are greeted with music from the "Mighty Wurlitzer" pipe organ. The lights dim as the organ descends down out of sight. The curtains open to a Merrie Melodies cartoon. After the cartoon they bring out a contraption called Deco-Win wheel to have the raffle. After 2 spins of the Deco-Win wheel the curtain opens again and the movie starts. The only drawback - old movie theater seats are not comfortable - so be prepared to be uncomfortable.

Now for the weekend. Pretty mundane. Watched lots of TV, did some laundry, gathered up all the Christmas presents that I have been buying for friends over the last several months. Went to Walmart, Lucky and Ace Hardware. Oh yeah, I went to Homodepot to get some stuff to insulate the windows where I have my air conditioners installed.

I've also been in a battle all weekend with the cats. I have a dry food feeder for them and it got down to the last little bit. They have refused to eat it and I have refused to throw it out. They can eat about 1/3 of the food in the feeder in 2-3 days. The feeder holds a 4 pound bag of food. The little bit (about 1.5 cups) they refuse to eat has been there since Friday. I have caught them nibbling on it, but they stop when I go into the kitchen. They must be getting hungry, but I'm looking at the bright side - there will be less to clean out of the kitty-box until they eat what's there - then I will give them more. Gawd, I hope they don't decide to devour me while I sleep.

Oh, I almost forgot, I made some Pecan Brittle earlier this evening.

This week there may not be many posts since I will be visiting a friend for Thanksgiving and Black Friday. So, if you don't hear from me, either I haven't been able to make an update or the damned cats are having a feast.

Wishing everyone (both of you) a Happy Thanksgiving!
G'nite!

Boring to the max. . .

After a long day at work, I came home. My sink was backed up so I put the dishes into the dishwasher and started it. (The sink was backed up with dishes.)

Did a load of laundry. Watched TV. Now updating this.

Till tomorrow, good night!

Ho Hum. . .

Well, tonight has been really boring. Let's see, I got home really late and noticed a message on my cell phone from Tim (my best friend). We chatted a bit about Thanksgiving next week and what I am bringing.

Had the TV on (of course) and looked through the new edition of my New Mexico magazine. Got a little "homesick" for Albuquerque and Christmas. The one time of the year that I truly loved in Albuquerque was the holidays - well Christmas. New Years Eve - not so much. Started thinking about mom and cried for a few minutes. I miss her. After I pulled it together, I got into a game of Bejeweled on my cell phone. Got my score up to almost 90K.

My stomach was making more noise than the game, so I fixed a cheese quasadilla with bacon in it (YUMMM - BACON). Watched Pushing Dasies while I ate. Read a little bit and then decided I should post this and head off to bed.

Take care, and thanks for reading - if you are!

MRIs are not ecxiting. . .

Well kids, I had an MRI today - nothing really exciting about it. I was a little anxious because I do get a little claustrophobic. Aaron the very nice technician (I think he was totally flirting with me)helped by making me laugh and think about humorous things while the machine popped, hummed and clicked. He also suggested I keep my eyes closed to make it easier - he was right.

Went back to work and found that we had become inundated in work! I stayed until almost 6:30 (normally leave at 5:00). Stopped by the Post Office on the way home but they had the door locked. I never know when the doors will be locked (except all day on Sunday).

Got home, fixed some tacquitos for dinner, then dozed while watching an episode of "Coupling" (on BBC America - it's quite funny). Thought about calling the MRI dept at Kaiser Walnut Creek to talk to Aaron to see if he maybe wanted to go to dinner (he did mention he worked until 8:00 p.m. tonight). Decided against it. Who knows, maybe I'll grow some balls and ask him out.

Started watching Dancing with the Stars, but the first hour is last night's show all over again. I hate when they do that. I watched it last night, damn it! I just want the results. Bastards!

Was going to send an email to complain about my Kaboom toilet cleaning system but they only have an 800 listed. WHAT? The only person/place/thing I know that does not have email is my mother (and she's been dead for well over 20 years so she has a valid excuse!) I went to put in the refill tablet, but the system thing would leak every time I flush the toilet, and the tablet I installed about 5 months ago is still in there (they are suppose to last 3 months). It should have run out a long time ago - I go to the bathroom a lot (people are always saying I am full of sheit). Guess I'll call them tomorrow (if I remember early enough - they are in the Eastern Time zone).

The only thing left to do is spell check and head off to bed.
Good night!

Monday night. . .

Sorry for no posts on the weekend, but on Saturday I was too tired when I got home to turn on the computer. I volunteered at Project Open Hand in the morning, then went to see Zack and Miri Make a Porno with my friend Jay. We were the only 2 in the theater. The movies was funny but very adult in content. On my way home I stopped by IKEA - YAY! IKEA is always interesting.

Sunday I just hung out around the house, and did a little (but not much) of anything. Sunday evening I decided I wanted to try making Bacon Brittle, but needed a candy thermometer, so off to Walmart. Came home and had a little excitement - burned the first batch and ruined the pan. Fortunately it was an old pan. I tossed it out today (Monday). The second batch came out chewy, but the taste was interesting. Everyone at work enjoyed it.

Today, well, after work I stopped by Walmart to pick up a Kaboom Tablet for the toilet cleaner in the back of my toilet. Came home, finished off some soup from
Saturday. Was going to make another batch of Pecan Brittle, but just didn't feel like it after inspecting the burnt pan from last night and tossing it out.

Settled in to watch Dancing with the Stars. Voted for Lance and Lacy. He's such a cutie. After DwtS I decided to clean out my printer's insides. When I would print something it would have black crap on the left hand side of the paper. There was some fuzz on one of the rollers. I cleaned as much as I could get to. Now it's working much better.

Need to sort my medication for the next few weeks, then off to bed. Is anyone reading this? Just checking.
Peace and good night!

Friday night - just like the rest. . .

Got off work at about 6:30 - way later than usual. I'm volunteering tomorrow morning in SF so stopped to get gas on the way home. It should be under $2.00 a gallon soon (I'm hoping).

Got home, called a friend back who had called me as I was packing up my laptop at work to leave. Watched Jeopardy - my favorite game show.

Clipped my finger nails then had some leftovers for dinner. Spent the rest of the evening selecting photos to use on my iPhone for my friends profiles. I'm still trying to figger out iTunes for transferring things from my iPhone to my computer and vice-versa. I haven't been able to get photos from I have taken with the phone to my computer. I also ended up with doubles of all photos and wallpapers on my phone. I'll figger it out someday.

OK, I have to link to something that excites me. My friend Jay (he-so-smart) found a blog all about bacon! YES - BACON! Bacon is proof that god loves us. The Bacon Show blog claims: "ONE BACON RECIPE PER DAY, EVERY DAY, FOREVER" What more could we hope for?

OK, off to bed real soon - gotta get up early to drive into SF, pick up Claire, stop for Starbucks, then head over to Project Open Hand to volunteer for the morning. Jay and I are meeting up after I am done to see a movie. We want to see The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas but it's showing at a Century/Cinemark theater. Since they donated big bucks to the Yes on 8 campaign, we are boycotting them. BOYCOT CENTURY/CENEMARK THEATERS!

OK, my weekends may be a little more exciting than my weekday evenings - but not nearly as fun as my best friend Tim - I wish I could help him decorate a restaurant for Christmas then go to IKEA!!!

Hugs to all.

Still here!

I made it through the night. Oh, and my friend Jay (see his webpage listed on the right) is far from boring.

On with my day.
